The coal mine is one of the many in the Rhein Ruhr Area of Germany. After the stop of coal subvention in Germany also this mine had no chance for surviving. The owner RAG decided in 2008 to close the mine in the same year. Partly workers were reallocated to other mines. Nevertheless a lot of them had to seek new jobs. Since then the mine is in deconstruction and the land will be allocated to a new use. Still several buildings can be visited until today.
The Mine is under security watch and the main-entrance is still manned. Dogs are on the ground !
