The compound was built in 1909 by Franciscan friars. They took care of about 600 sick men, most of them with severe mental illnesses. In 1939, under the command of Hitler, the institution was converted into the so-called childrens ward due to the euthanasia program. From 1963 the building was then used as a British school and boarding school, as in the vicinity is also a large base of the British. Since 1991, the buildings are empty and decay. Since the compound was long not secured a lot has been vandalized. No interior is left. Today the place is patrolled and has an alert system.
